About The Position

The Home Visiting Teacher position involves planning and conducting an educational program while developing strong nurturing relationships with children and families. The role includes implementing weekly home visits based on caseload and conducting regular socialization groups with families. The teacher will provide education, family, and health services, ensuring compliance with Head Start performance standards and agency policies.

Requirements

  • Education: Infant-Toddler Child Development Associate or Infant-Toddler Certification OR Step 7 or higher in the Oregon Registry.
  • Minimum (1) year of experience teaching in early childhood education.
  • Experience working with diverse backgrounds of the College's community, students, and employees.
  • Current driver's license, insurance, and access to a reliable automobile during work hours with at least three (3) years of driving history.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and conducts an educational program, including curriculum development using assessment information to individualize weekly plans that support learning and development.
  • Participates in the Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP) process for children with special needs and incorporates IFSP goals into weekly curriculum plans.
  • Conducts and submits developmental screening and assessments for children, following up as required.
  • Provides parent education on child development and supports parents' roles as the first and lifelong educators of their children.
  • Assists parents with connecting to resources to meet individual family needs.
  • Provides case management services while supporting families' safety, health, financial stability, life goals, and aspirations.
  • Teaches parents strategies to support the social and emotional development of children through education and direct modeling in the family environment.
  • Develops and implements an individual education plan for each child that is specific to their interests, strengths, and areas for growth and development.
  • Assesses the ongoing progress of children in partnership with parents.
  • Takes accurate, objective, and complete observations and enters child and parent observation data into the data management systems in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates networks and group activities that support families' strengths, interests, and needs.
  • Conducts individual screenings and ensures health exams are completed; monitors screening and exam results; and ensures completion of follow-up services needed.
