About The Position

The Home Study/Post-Release Services (PRS) Case Manager at Vista Del Mar is responsible for conducting comprehensive home studies and providing case management services to unaccompanied children who have been released from federal custody. This role involves assessing the safety and appropriateness of placements with sponsors, connecting children to essential services, and advocating for their rights and well-being within the community. The position requires a commitment to cultural humility and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful integration of these children into their new environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Relevant 1 year experience in case management within child welfare programs, preferably with immigrant or refugee populations.
  • Knowledge of community resources and ability to connect families to services.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Bilingual proficiency in both English and Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Commitment to the organization's mission and values.
  • Valid California Driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct virtual and in-person home visits to assess sponsors and provide post-release services to unaccompanied children.
  • Provide ongoing case management services, including assistance with education, medical care, and legal assistance.
  • Advocate for the rights and well-being of unaccompanied minors in the community.
  • Respond to crises and emergencies affecting unaccompanied minors in collaboration with emergency services.
  • Assist youth in enrolling in educational programs and developing life skills for self-sufficiency.
  • Demonstrate cultural sensitivity when working with diverse backgrounds, including immigrants and refugees.
  • Maintain accurate case records and ensure compliance with legal requirements.
  • Collaborate with local organizations and service providers to enhance support for unaccompanied minors.
  • Work closely with colleagues to provide comprehensive care and support to youth.
  • Stay informed about changes in immigration policies and participate in relevant training.
