About The Position

The Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS) is the state’s lead division serving people with disabilities, committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, accessibility, and racial justice. This position coordinates customer case records and documents in a field office related to service delivery activities for customers in the Bureau of Customer and Community Field Services/Home Services Program. The role involves formal and informal training, not exceeding twelve (12) months, to learn the rules, regulations, and policies of the Home Services Program. The ultimate goal is to manage a caseload, providing services to individuals with disabilities to help them remain independent in their home and community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to valuing diversity, equity, accessibility, and racial justice by contributing to an inclusive learning and working environment. Requirements

  • Requires possession of a Master's Degree from a college or university program accredited by the Council On Rehabilitation Education (CORE) Or a Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in rehabilitation counseling, rehabilitation administration, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, deaf education, special education, social work, sociology, gerontology, nursing or a closely related field.
  • Requires ability to travel to individual’s home to interview applicants to determine initial eligibility and to monitor and revaluate services for DRS Home Services Program.
  • Requires the ability to physically access and visually assess the home environment for suitability and planning of services.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as Home Services Program Counselor Trainee in the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), Bureau of Customer and Community Field Services/Home Services Program, receives on-the-job training not to exceed twelve (12) months to learn the rules, federal and state regulations, policies, and procedures for provision of services to individuals under the Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Waiver, Brain Injury (BI) Waiver and/or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) Waiver at risk of nursing home placement.
  • Studies and becomes proficient in utilizing the Division's case management system.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, conferences, workshops, and in-service training related to the discipline of rehabilitation counseling and the home services program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
