About The Position
The Home School Liaison position at Illinois School District U-46 is designed to assist the school in maintaining accurate records for the identification, assessment, and placement of students in the Multilingual and Multicultural Education programs. This role is crucial in fostering communication between the school and the parents of multilingual families within the district. The liaison will uphold the School District U-46 ICARE Standards and maintain confidentiality regarding student and staff information in both school and community settings. The primary responsibilities include managing student rosters by identifying students from non-English-speaking backgrounds, preparing necessary enrollment notices, and conducting initial conferences with parents or legal guardians. The liaison will also conduct weekly student counts, verify English Learner data, and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations by maintaining accurate documentation in student cumulative folders. Additionally, the liaison will support the registration process for new families needing bilingual assistance and collaborate with school staff to facilitate communication and support for the English Learner population. This position requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills, as the liaison will serve as an interpreter and translator between the school and parents. The role also involves assisting with daily attendance, answering calls, and supporting school rules and procedures. The Home School Liaison will work closely with the principal, teachers, and other staff to ensure that the needs of multilingual families are met effectively.
