About The Position

Habitat for Humanity of Dane County (HFHDC) is seeking a skilled and mission-driven Home Repair & Warranty-Site Superintendent to lead day-to-day construction operations for our home repair and warranty program. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on the jobsite, enjoys mentoring others, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work that directly impacts local families. The Site Superintendent is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all aspects of home repair and warranty projects. This includes managing safety, schedules, budgets, subcontractors, volunteers, and client communication—ensuring every project is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard of quality.

Requirements

  • 2–3 years of residential construction experience with strong knowledge of all construction phases.
  • Ability to read blueprints and troubleshoot on-site challenges.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Effective communication skills and professionalism with diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (including Teams) and construction/project management software (e.g., Asana, Buildertrend).
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of volunteer leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience driving medium-duty trucks and towing trailers.
  • OSHA 30 and/or HFHI Competent Person Training (or willingness to obtain).
  • Home Inspector and/or Lead-Safe Renovator certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all worksites meet safety standards, building codes, and HFHDC policies.
  • Manage project timelines and budgets; proactively solve problems to keep projects on track.
  • Conduct home assessments to define scope, cost estimates, timelines, and resource needs.
  • Submit permits and coordinate inspections with municipalities.
  • Oversee subcontractors and ensure quality work through project completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Provide regular updates on project progress and address concerns professionally.
  • Maintain strong, positive relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise volunteer leaders and crews of varying skill levels.
  • Foster an inclusive, productive jobsite environment.
  • Support recruitment and retention of construction volunteers.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe worksites.
  • Protect homeowner property and ensure proper material storage and waste management.
  • Implement erosion control and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Contribute ideas for cost-effective, energy-efficient building solutions.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
