The Home Office Senior Underwriter - Casualty (GL) role provides technical underwriting expertise and guidance on General Liability matters to the SVP Leaders and Underwriters and acts independently as a Technical Expert on the casualty lines of business in support of the achievement of business plans and product development. This position involves providing support to the underwriting audit process, functioning as a referral authority to Associate Underwriters, Underwriters, and Senior Underwriters, and supporting the drafting of policy language while coordinating with Claims and Legal to finalize wording. The role also includes attending and participating in IT and Claims Committee meetings, actively mentoring and participating in training for all Associate Underwriters, Underwriters, and Senior Underwriters, and participating in WRBC and other data calls as needed. Additionally, the Senior Underwriter will engage in research projects on trends impacting the Casualty business, stay knowledgeable on market trends, participate in the identification and development of viable new products, and recommend risk appetite changes. The position requires leading key aspects of portfolio management, providing recommendations on aspects requiring change or remedial action, and supporting Underwriting initiatives as directed. The Senior Underwriter will also lead initiatives that have a high impact on the development of Underwriting Guidelines and collaborate with Product Management and other departments as necessary.
