About The Position

Work with store management to ensure best-in-class store standards, excellence in operational execution, and make recommendations for improvement. Serve as a liaison to departments providing upward feedback on the effectiveness of the merchandising or operational plans/programs, as well as local needs and products. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of experience as a division manager or assistant store manager
  • Strong understanding of industry/technical terms and processes
  • Knowledge of Fred Meyer policies, procedures, and organizational structure
  • Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skill with high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive information
  • Ability to work within strict time frames/resolute deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and train

Responsibilities

  • Model Customer 1st behavior; deliver and encourage other associates to deliver excellent customer service
  • Instruct and train store associates in the proper use of their store's display space and special or seasonal merchandising techniques
  • Follow through on the implementation of enterprise/division store sets that allow for proper allocation, variety and freshness of product
  • Instruct and train store department managers in proper ordering, execution of the sales plan, and the implementation and development of product mix to support consistent sales, profit, and tonnage growth
  • Ensure that required division methods of handling, receiving, storing, conditioning, pricing, stocking, and rotating are implemented
  • Ensure each department implements and executes merchandising and operational plans as directed by applicable division department
  • Ensure adherence to division standards on applicable commodities and departments
  • Actively work with store associates in the promotion of safety and shared responsibility for the achievement of a zero accident safety culture
  • Assist in the installation, training, and use of new equipment and/or work methods
  • Keep abreast of competitive situations and monitor and report significant programs or activities
  • Work with stores in the achievement of the shrink glide path; apply tools to manage this area
  • Identify training stores and managers within districts and evaluate department team strengths and opportunities
  • Work with appropriate resources and store teams to ensure the effective use of training programs and assist in the training of store associates
  • Provide input concerning promotability and selection of store department managers to district managers and assist in the training for and transition of the new department manager to their store
  • Travel to various company locations to inspect store conditions, customer service performance, merchandising standards, associate performance, shrink initiatives, and overall store operations
  • Maintain flexibility to work any shift, including weekends
