About The Position

Under supervision, this position is responsible to manage the day-to-day residential and day services operations of assigned component. Provides on-going development and training to direct support staff members to ensure quality services are delivered. Weekly: Monday 7am-4pm, Tuesday 8am-2pm, Wednesday 7am-4pm, Thursday 7am-2pm, Friday 7am-4pm (one weekend shift per month as needed) Mission Statement “Building community resources to create a person centered life.” Vision “All people are valued community members.” Values At Sesdac, Inc., we believe in a world of dignity, opportunity and community inclusion for all people. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited high school, or GED, and a minimum of three years’ experience in working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
  • Is committed to assisting people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to develop and achieve their personal outcomes.
  • Deals effectively and decisively with problems in a studied and sequential manner; engenders trust and confidence in his/her dealing with other staff members and community members.
  • Has excellent interpersonal skills; can communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Maintains an on-going awareness of trends and programs in the field of developmental disabilities.
  • A self-starter who requires minimal supervision; has high energy and commitment to perform the duties of the position and carry out the mission of Sesdac, Inc.
  • Basic computer skills with background in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Budget and Purchasing Operates within authorized annual allotments or budgets for supplies and materials.
  • Uses agency requisition procedures to obtain supplies and materials as necessary.
  • Ensure that agency equipment is in safe working order and promotes safety, longevity and pleasing appearance of equipment.
  • Administration Responsible for the on-the-job training, on-going training and development, and contribute to the evaluation of employees within his/her assigned component.
  • Responsible for communicating staff training needs to their supervisor.
  • Works with Assistant Director of Services in resolving problems between personnel.
  • Participates and leads monthly staff meetings.
  • Works with Assistant Director of Services on implementing staffing schedules and ensuring all shifts are filled.
  • Ensure the implementation of all agency policies and procedures.
  • Participate in agency trainings as identified.
  • Complete and monitor required documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Living Environments Report maintenance and repair needs promptly to Maintenance.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and upkeep.
  • Maintain safe working conditions and report all hazardous conditions promptly to Assistant Director of Services.
  • Ensure “home-like” environment is maintained.
  • Inventory needed cleaning supplies and order as needed to maintain an adequate supply.
  • Store supplies properly in accordance with regulations.
  • Complete an annual inventory of clothing and personal belongings for individuals.
  • Provides general care and management of the home, such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, minor and preventative maintenance, etc.
  • Services for People Understands and supports the achievement of Personal Outcomes.
  • Model appropriate behavior for individuals supported.
  • Participate in Individual Support Plan meetings for all individuals assigned.
  • To ensure the Individual Support Plan is being implemented according to agency practices and all state and national standards.
  • Model and observe the implementation of each person’s Individual Support Plan.
  • Initiate meetings for revisions to the Individual Support Plan for any major change in the individual’s life by contacting the Assistant Director of Services.
  • Assist and train DSPs in implementing each person’s Individual Support Plan.
  • Initiate an information exchange with other staff to develop, conduct and complete appropriate assessments.
  • Ensure objectives, goals, Positive Behavior Support Plans, individual budgets and rights restrictions are implemented and documentation is completed.
  • Responsible for maintaining a current and accurate balance in an individual’s checkbook.
  • Assist individuals in recording all income and paying monthly expenditures.
  • Review all Therap communications and General Event Records for needed action.
  • Administer medications and monitor medication policies to insure that people served are receiving appropriate medications and that documentation occurs.
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of medication is on-hand at all times.
  • Ensure that all health related supports and instructions are carried out and documented.
  • Use supported routines to support individuals in meal assistance, walking and transferring, personal hygiene, etc. as defined in a person’s Individual Support Plan.
  • Assist people in setting up transportation to and from work, appointments, shopping and leisure activities as required.
  • Assist in monitoring, on an on-going basis, reporting requirements to ensure completion and accuracy for programs including, but not limited to the Child and Adult Nutrition Program (CANS), short term objectives, attendance sheets, etc.
  • Willingly accepts and promotes state of the art techniques and philosophies in providing supports for people.
  • Attain and maintain CPR and medication certification.
  • Ensures the safety and well-being of each individual served.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.
