Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in mortgage operations or a related financial services role.
  • Ability to assist with escalations and adhere to SLA compliance.
  • Strong analytical skills with a familiarity in reporting tools and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Review mortgage loan files that have failed guideline checks due to Change in Circumstance (CIC), policy exceptions, or significant data changes after initial approval.
  • Understand and apply investor guidelines (e.g., Fannie Mae, VA, FHA) related to common changes in loan amount, interest rate, LTV, appraisal value, occupancy, and credit.
  • Perform thorough reviews of loan data in Encompass, comparing it to AUS (automated underwriting system) findings, credit reports, appraisals, and other relevant documents to identify the root cause of the failure.
  • Troubleshoot guideline failures by evaluating potential solutions and determining the appropriate course of action.
  • Communicate effectively with the underwriting and credit policy team to clarify guidelines, discuss potential resolutions, and obtain necessary approvals.
  • Adhere to service level agreements (SLA) by reviewing documentation and rendering decisions in a timely manner.
  • Work with team members and leadership to foster a supportive and cooperative work environment. Provide input for process improvements.
  • Actively seek methods to streamline business processes related to guideline review and data variance resolution.
