About The Position

POSITION SUMMARY: The position has overall knowledge of the Home Loan Department; exercises sound judgment in the loan making process and ensures accurate recording and timely service. OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE: Originate Home loans including: Freddie Mac, Fannie Mae, FHA, USDA, VA, Home Equity Loans, HELOCs, and other in-house loan products. Identify, develop and maintain a successful network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new home loan opportunities Ensure exceptional customer experience by overseeing the loan process from origination to closing and providing on-going communication to customers, processors, underwriters, and other business partners.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree (A. A.) in banking or finance or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have strong public relations skills.
  • Must have computer skills in Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • As generally applicable to F&M Bank and commensurate with these job functions, this job role includes accountabilities for following Bank policies and related procedures, as well as regulatory requirements involving federal and state laws, regulations, and related guidance.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with applicants to obtain information for loan applications and to answer questions about the process.
  • Explain to customers the different types of loan products and services that are available, as well as the terms.
  • Obtain and compile documentation to support application information.
  • Analyze and compile information and documentation collected to accurately process loans in accordance with Bank policies and procedures as well as real estate lending rules and regulations.
  • Ensure assigned Home Loan Matrix dates for 30-day turn-time are met on all loan files.
  • Maintain availability to realtors and borrowers outside of standard banking hours.
  • Meet with customers as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
  • Network with internal departments, employees, realtors, builders, and other referral sources to generate leads and create a Bank presence in local communities.
  • Cross-sell other bank products, including FM Investments.
  • Participate in Sales program including practicing drills and role-plays; utilize sales skills to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Identify competitive opportunities in local markets regarding rates, products, etc.
  • Handle customer complaints and take appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Achieve production and other goals as established by F&M.
  • Utilizes F&M training materials, reference tools and other resources to provide accurate and up-to-date loan program/policy information to both external customers and internal business partners.
  • Comply satisfactorily pass tests for bank policy and regulatory compliance that apply to position.
  • Compliance with Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), including accurate completion of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR) when applicable, Anti-Money Laundering Act (AML), Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) and the USA PATRIOT Act. Adhere to Customer Identification, Customer Due Diligence and reporting of suspicious activities to the BSA Department.
