About The Position

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you're making a difference in people's lives.The Sterile Products Pharmacy Technician will play a prominent role in providing safe and appropriate pharmacy services to our patients in accordance with the policies and procedures of the state of employment standards set forth in the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), and all other applicable federal & local regulatory entities. The Sterile Products Pharmacy Technician works under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, working in & with all aspects of preparing compounding medication.Under the general supervision of a pharmacist, this role performs pharmacy-related functions in compliance with Home Infusion department policies and procedures to provide optimal pharmaceutical care.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Active state certification with Board of Registration in Pharmacy in Massachusetts.
  • 1+ years related work experience required.
  • Ability to develop strong relationships with diverse groups of professionals.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Nice To Haves

  • National Certification verified by PTCB and ExCPT.
  • Certified Sterile Compounding Technician (CSPT).
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Epic.
  • Previous experience with quality assurance.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation, storage and distribution of compounded & non compounded items.
  • Inventory control. Completing compliance audits and questionnaires with patients via phone or electronic communication.
  • Performing financial transactions- Insurance billing & patient collections.
  • Providing internal & external customer service.
  • Maintenance of pharmacy records.
  • Ordering, receiving, and inspecting medication and supplies.
  • Follow all company & department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and assume different roles & responsibilities.
  • Operate, clean and sanitize equipment and compounding areas.
  • Maintain all housekeeping standards.
  • Calibrate, use and maintain the equipment needed in preparation of compounded items.
  • Ensure/Verify all calculations on compounding records & master formulation records are accurate and correct.
  • Coordinate with pharmacy team members to compound preparations and execute quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure all compounds are prepared in accordance to the compounding records/master formula records.
  • Follows documentation requirements- ensures records are complete, legible & timely.
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and understand the variable compounding modalities. Understands the need to consult with the pharmacist or quality team when questions / concerns arise.
  • Assists with Quality Assurance activities including but not limited to monitoring of production environment and testing of compounded batches.
  • Effectively communicates with patients/caregivers to assist with medication procurement.
  • Communicates/Relays information to internal/external customers.
  • Accurately labels, packs and stores products prior to shipment to patients.
  • Perform inventory tasks (identification, ordering, receiving) to ensure proper quantities on hand of needed items.
