As a Home Health Occupational Therapist , you will provide both direct and indirect supervision of the Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) and the Home Health Aide (HHA).

Requirements

• Graduate of an Occupational Therapy curriculum accredited jointly by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association and the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Registered with the National Registration Examination of the American Occupational Therapy Association
• Two (2) years of clinical experience as an Occupational Therapist

Responsibilities

• Evaluating patients’ functional statuses (muscle function, endurance, visual coordination, written and verbal communication, self-care abilities, etc.)
• Evaluating home environment for hazards/barriers to more independent living and identifying equipment needs
• Participating in the development of the plan of care
• Developing treatment programs and establishing goals for improved function.
• Communicating plan of care to the physician and other team members
• Teaching new skills or retraining patients in once familiar daily activities that have been lost due to illness or injury
• Maintaining appropriate clinical records, notes, and reporting to the physician any changes in patient conditions
• Fabricating splints and instructing patient in the use of various types of adaptive equipment to improve function
• Training patient in the use of prosthetic and/or orthotic devices
• Identifying patient and family/caregiver needs for other home health services and referring as appropriate
