Home Health Aide - All Levels - We Train Free

Haven Home CareNorton, OH
$16 - $18Onsite

About The Position

You help people in their homes as a Home Health Aide. Mostly older adults. Baths, getting dressed, meals, light cleaning, errands, companionship. This is physical work — you help people move around and stand most of the day. If you need help doing these tasks, tell us. We can talk about what might work. You do NOT give medicine or do medical tasks. That's for nurses. FOUR WAYS TO QUALIFY AS AN HHA Way 1: You have an STNA license (fastest) Starting pay: $18/hour What you need: STNA license in Ohio — active or expired. Timeline: 1-3 days if you move fast. Why faster: You already passed the state test. That's what your license means. Other Home Health Aides take a written and skills test with us. You don't. Steps: 1. Apply with your STNA license number 2. Phone talk (20 minutes) 3. Short online questionnaire 4. Sign your paperwork online 5. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 6. Fingerprinting Way 2: You have an HHA certificate Starting pay: $16-18/hour based on interview What you need: HHA certificate, 30+ hours, signed by RN (unless completed online). Timeline: 5-8 days to working. Steps: 1. Apply and send your certificate 2. Phone talk (20 minutes) 3. Short online questionnaire 4. Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 5. Sign your paperwork online 6. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 7. Fingerprinting Way 3: You worked under an RN or LPN as a Home Health Aide or Nurse Aide (no certificate needed) Starting pay: $16-18/hour based on interview What you need: 1+ year at one company where your supervisor was an RN or LPN. Timeline: 5-8 days after we verify your experience. This means you worked at places like: - Nursing homes - Hospitals - Skilled home health agencies (Medicare-certified) - Assisted living with licensed nurses on staff This does NOT qualify: - Non-medical home care agencies (supervisor was a care coordinator or office manager) - Private caregiving for family or friends - Experience without a licensed nurse supervisor Why the rule: Ohio requires HHAs to have training OR supervised experience under a licensed nurse. We don't make this rule — the state does. Steps: 1. Apply — include that company's name, phone number, your RN or LPN supervisor's name and title, and dates you worked there 2. We call your old employer to verify your experience AND that your supervisor was an RN or LPN 3. Once verified, we schedule your phone talk (20 minutes) 4. Short online questionnaire 5. Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 6. Sign your paperwork online 7. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 8. Fingerprinting Why we verify first: We don't want to waste your time on a phone interview if we can't confirm your experience. This protects both of us. Not sure if your experience qualifies? Text us at (330) 400-3423 and we'll help you figure it out. Way 4: You're new to Home Health Aide work Starting pay: $16/hour What you need: Willingness to help people. We teach everything else. Timeline: 1-2 weeks to working. Steps: 1. Apply 2. Phone talk (20 minutes) 3. Short online questionnaire 4. Complete free 32-hour online HHA training (at home, 6 days to finish, NOT paid) 5. Take the HHA test at our Cuyahoga Falls office (scheduled with you) 6. Sign your paperwork online 7. Online orientation + document verification (30-40 minutes) 8. Fingerprinting Ohio requires all Home Health Aides to pass a competency test. This isn't our rule — it's the state's rule. The test has two parts: Written questions. Skills you show. You need 80% on both parts. You take both parts in person at our Cuyahoga Falls office — we'll schedule a time with you. Already passed an HHA test somewhere else? Show us your results. If you got 80% or higher, you skip the test. STNAs skip the test entirely — your license (active or expired) proves you passed.
