Position Overview: The Home Health Aide Trainee role is an entry-level position within Aveanna's Pennsylvania operations. Once certified, work settings may include homes, schools, or daycare facilities, depending on the plan of care. Applicants or current employees selected for this position will enroll in Care Academy, a structured training program designed to help individuals earn their Home Health Aide Certification. Job Duties and Expectations: Participate fully in the Care Academy Training Program, including regular attendance at in-person sessions, active engagement, completion of all assignments, self-study materials, and meeting program certification requirements. Communicate effectively with branch leaders, team members, and Care Academy Training staff. Uphold strict confidentiality regarding patient, family, and client-related matters during and after the training program. Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality customer service and a willingness to learn. Note: Aveanna reserves the right to remove trainees from the Care Academy program for any compliance or policy violations or insufficient participation. Must have own reliable transportation. Job Duties After HHA Certification: Upon successful completion of the Care Academy program, trainees will transition to the Home Health Aide role, receive an updated pay rate, and be assigned patient cases accordingly. Ongoing education will be required post-certification, including meeting Pennsylvania state requirements: Completion of 75 hours of training, including 16 hours of clinical instruction. At least 12 hours of in-service training annually, which may occur during patient care. Aides must demonstrate proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and adherence to care policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record (only required for approved patient transport; not applicable for pediatric patients in Pennsylvania).
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Proficient in problem-solving and conflict resolution
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding English
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Capability to lift up to 25 pounds for patient care tasks
  • Extended periods of walking, standing, bending, kneeling, reaching, twisting, and climbing stairs
  • Ability to sit for prolonged durations
  • Adequate visual and hearing acuity
  • Possess a keen sense of smell and touch
  • Ability to reposition patients and move equipment independently for patient care needs
  • Physical and mental responsiveness to emergency situations in the home or during transport
  • Adaptability to various environments, including potential exposure to allergens and diverse conditions
  • Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and infectious diseases
