About The Position

The Home Health Aide position involves providing essential support to clients in their homes, following a Care Plan established by the Nursing Supervisor. The role requires maintaining a healthy and safe environment, assisting clients with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking, and feeding. The aide will also be responsible for positioning clients as instructed, assisting with treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians, reminding clients to take medications, and running errands when authorized. Documentation of daily activities is required, along with reporting any significant changes in the client's condition to the agency or nursing supervisor. Emotional support and fostering a trusting relationship with clients are also key components of this role.

Requirements

  • Must be eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Must have a certificate from a Home Health Aide training program consistent with State requirements with evidence of ongoing in-service education to maintain the certificate.
  • Must have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the client, the client's family, and agency personnel.
  • Have a sincere interest in and a sympathetic attitude towards caring for the sick and disabled.
  • Get along well with others and be dependable and trustworthy.
  • Maintain compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
  • Maintain in-service requirements as specified in State and agency regulations.
  • Be a good listener, exhibit empathy for the sick, disabled, and elderly, and be sensitive to the feelings of others.
  • Be neatly dressed and have good personal hygiene habits.
  • Maintain good health habits with regular physical and dental exams.
  • Wear an identification badge while working.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a healthy, safe environment and provide nutritional and environmental support.
  • Assist with personal hygiene, toileting, dressing, walking, and feeding the client.
  • Position the client when instructed to do so.
  • Assist with certain treatments and therapy as ordered by the physician and approved by the nursing supervisor.
  • Remind the client to take medications.
  • Assist with payment of bills ONLY when authorized and documented.
  • Run errands when authorized and document on the Aide Charting Sheet daily.
  • Report any important information or changes in the client's condition to the agency and/or nursing supervisor when necessary.
  • Use medical supplies and equipment when appropriate.
  • Provide emotional support and develop a trusting relationship with the client.
  • Encourage client independence.
