About The Position

The Home Health Aide position at McGregor PACE involves providing essential personal care and support to elderly participants in a community-based setting. The role is designed to help seniors maintain their independence and quality of life while receiving necessary medical and personal care services. The position offers flexible scheduling options, including part-time, full-time, and PRN shifts, with a focus on compassionate care and effective communication with both participants and team members.

Requirements

  • HHA (Home Health Aide), CNA (certified nursing assistant), or STNA (state-tested nursing assistant) certification is required.
  • CPR certification is preferred.
  • Prior experience working with frail, older adults, or persons with special needs is required; experience with dementia patients is desirable.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift or move 50 - 75 lbs.

  • Experience with dementia patients is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day-to-day personal care and safety of the participant.
  • Assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, toileting, bathing, ambulation, feeding, dressing, and participating in recreational activities; encourages independence as appropriate.
  • Responsible for light housekeeping, laundry, and assisting with meal preparation.
  • Anticipates needs to carry through activities in an organized, efficient manner; prepares all supplies and work area before beginning activities.
  • May participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as requested; communicate relevant participant information to supervisor.
  • Completes required documentation according to organizational guidelines and time frames in a legible and complete manner.
  • Reports participant status changes to supervisor and other staff as relevant.
  • Validates competency in basic skills and personal care services, annually, and as otherwise required.
  • Completes ongoing training program requirements per organizational policy.
  • Follows organizational policy for call-offs and completing time sheets.
  • Assists with errands which may include grocery shopping or replenishing household goods.
  • Understands and utilizes principles of infection control, including handwashing, bag procedures, and care of an infectious patient.
  • Innovative in providing services with the available resources.
  • Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
