Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Business or equivalent work and/or educational experience required.
  • Typically one year experience in Home Equity or Mortgage Lending required.
  • Thorough knowledge of general loan policy, real estate lending practices (including state regulations and federal regulatory requirements) and agency requirements regarding consumer lending required.
  • Thorough knowledge of all RESPA, HMDA, Fair Lending, ECOA, and HUD rules and regulations required.
  • Comply with Safe Act legislation, which requires annual registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO).
  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary.
  • Verbal and written skills to effectively communicate and provide customer service required.

Responsibilities

  • Process Home Equity Loans: Review, analyze, and process all required documentation—such as title searches, appraisals, income verification, and insurance binders—to determine credit, collateral, and ratio acceptability.
  • Manage Underwriting Conditions: Ensure all underwriting conditions are met, coordinating with members, branch teams, and underwriters to deliver accurate and complete files for final approval.
  • Prepare Loans for Closing: Verify that loan applications are complete, fully scored in the Loan Origination System, and supported with error-free calculations before closing.
  • Partner With Vendors: Work professionally and efficiently with external vendors to clear collateral conditions and maintain momentum toward closing.
  • Navigate Multiple Loan Pipelines: Manage several loans in different stages at once in a fast-paced environment, handling calls, questions, and updates seamlessly.
  • Coordinate Final Terms & Signings: Communicate with members and escrow partners to confirm final terms and schedule signing appointments.
  • Apply Expert Home Equity Knowledge: Maintain a strong understanding of BECU’s Home Equity pricing, policies, products, and loan structures to offer members the best possible options.
  • Support Member Experience: Deliver prompt, efficient, and professional service—resolving questions or concerns with courtesy and thorough follow‑through.
  • Champion Financial Awareness: Provide clear information about BECU’s products, services, and policies to help members confidently navigate their financial choices.
  • Fulfill Additional Responsibilities: Assist with other related duties as assigned to support the overall Home Equity team and member experience.
