About The Position

The Home Energy Auditor I position at La Casa de Don Pedro involves conducting field home energy assessments to identify energy deficiencies in residential homes. The role supports the Healthy Homes program by utilizing energy-efficient tools and equipment to evaluate homes' energy performance and health and safety issues. The auditor will collect and analyze data to recommend improvements and educate participants on energy conservation.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 3 years of residential construction work experience or home building science training.
  • Required Certifications: RRP Certificate within 3 months, OSHA 10/30 within 6 months, Energy Auditor Certificate within 12 months, Quality Control Inspector Certificate within 2 years.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other languages a plus.
  • Ability to operate energy-efficient tools and equipment.
  • Ability to observe safety and security procedures and operate equipment properly.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • New Jersey driver's license with a good driving record.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in residential construction or home energy auditing.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish or other languages.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field home energy audits to assess energy deficiencies for weatherization purposes.
  • Inspect and evaluate homes for energy performance, mechanical systems, and health & safety issues.
  • Perform diagnostic tests using field equipment to locate air leaks and other hazards.
  • Collect, analyze, and enter home field data into a database to determine energy usage and recommend improvements.
  • Communicate with participants, visitors, and vendors, and manage paperwork and files.
  • Educate program participants on the importance of home energy conservation.
  • Update program participant files as necessary.
  • Participate in special divisional projects and trainings as needed.
