About The Position

The Home & Community Support Staff position at Helping Hands involves providing direct support to individuals with intellectual disabilities in both home and community settings. This part-time role offers flexible scheduling and requires a commitment to professionalism and ongoing training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license and insured personal vehicle.
  • Ability to meet transportation requirements as outlined in the job duties.
  • 2 years of experience in caregiving and working with intellectually disabled individuals.

  • Experience in assisted living or home care settings.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual disabilities, assisting them in the achievement of personal goals and outcomes.
  • Assist in the implementation of each individual's Community Life Plan, ensuring services and activities are consistent with their personal preferences and goals.
  • Accompany individuals on recreational, social, and community outings, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Facilitate and engage individuals in a variety of leisure activities such as arts, crafts, games, and other meaningful interactions in the home setting.
  • Provide general assistance to individuals in their home and/or community setting to implement activities of daily living, including personal care, meal preparation, and housekeeping.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation related to client interactions, progress, and activities in accordance with company policies.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with supervisory staff, addressing individual concerns, reporting progress, and attending staff meetings (virtual and/or in-person) as required.
  • Follow supervisor instructions in the event of a crisis, ensuring the safety and well-being of individuals in care.
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating appropriate language, dress, and behavior in line with the professional standards expected by Helping Hands.
  • Complete mandatory annual training relevant to Human Services (training may be completed online or virtually).
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required by supervisory staff.
  • Transport individuals in a personal vehicle or agency vehicle, as needed, in accordance with established safety guidelines.
