About The Position

As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you’ll play a key hands-on role in helping clients regain strength, mobility, and independence. Working under the guidance of a Physical Therapist and following customized treatment plans, you’ll deliver supportive, meaningful care that makes a real impact in clients’ daily lives. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with people, values teamwork, and thrives in a compassionate, client-centered environment.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year Physical Therapy Assistant program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
  • At least six months of experience working under a licensed Physical Therapist (home health experience is a plus!).
  • Comfort working independently and confidently in a home-based care environment.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and following agency policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to lift, stand, walk, bend, and assist clients with positioning throughout the day.
  • Comfortable lifting up to 35 pounds independently.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and visit various work locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one physical therapy treatments based on the care plan created by the Physical Therapist and physician.
  • Help clients learn how to use mobility devices and therapeutic equipment such as wheelchairs, braces, and other assistive tools.
  • Observe and report client progress, reactions, and changes in condition to the care team.
  • Support the Physical Therapist by offering suggestions on equipment needs or home environment modifications.
  • Teach clients and their families how to perform exercises and supportive activities safely and effectively.
  • Document visits, interventions, observations, and communications clearly and accurately.
  • Coordinate with scheduling to ensure timely visits and maintain expected productivity.
  • Communicate consistently with the Physical Therapist and broader care team about progress, goals, and discharge planning.
  • Provide encouragement and build positive, professional relationships with clients and their families.
