About The Position

This is a full-time day shift Pharmacy Technician II position located at Gateway Plaza in Indianapolis, IN. The field of Home Infusion Pharmacy has revolutionized healthcare, providing patients with personalized, lifesaving therapy from the comfort of their home and the freedom to resume life's daily activities. We are seeking a detail-oriented pharmacy technician to join our team of office pharmacy technicians to work alongside our pharmacists to provide exceptional patient care. As an office technician, this position is responsible for recording labs, triaging phone calls, coordinating patient deliveries, monitoring patient inventory levels and ensuring patients have supplies on hand for their infusions. Office technicians are customer service based in our pharmacy who will be utilizing our EMR software and additional Microsoft applications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years relevant experience preferred.
  • Requires the absence of criminal history related to the ability to work with drugs.
  • Requires strong mathematical calculation skills.
  • Requires working knowledge and skills as a pharmacy technician in assigned areas and ability to work within established procedures under moderate supervision.
  • Requires effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Requires effective customer service skills.
  • Requires intermediate proficiency typing and using Microsoft Office applications.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Requires Indiana Pharmacy Technician License OR intern/extern license if enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Pharmacy Technician National Certification required unless enrolled in accredited college of pharmacy.

Responsibilities

  • Support the pharmacy department in inventory, preparation, distribution, compounding, processing of medications and supplies, specialty medications, and medication histories.
  • Assist with all functions required for medication processing including answering telephones, taking refill orders, entering orders into the system, preparing the medication for pharmacist check, preparing medications for disbursement/shipment/delivery.
  • Handle supplies, stock prepackaged items, maintain inventory, deliver supplies, maintain records, and distribute supplies.
  • Assist in bulk compounding and preparation of I.V. solutions.
  • Work with pharmacy staff to minimize the potential for medication errors.
  • Exercise sound judgement, anticipate potential issues and challenges in common situations and apply standard policies and procedures to determine solutions or escalation.
