About The Position

About the job: The Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing and assisting participants with activities of daily living and restorative/supportive care necessary to ensure the physical and health safety of the home environment. Assists in monitoring and reporting the health status and providing a safe environment for the PACE participants of Senior Community Care of North Carolina. As assigned, works shifts in the SCCNC Day Center and provides care and services to participants and assists with the provision of a safe and effective day program Senior Community Care of North Carolina - PACE: Senior Community Care of North Carolina - PACE is part of Volunteers of America National Services which serves as the Housing and Healthcare affiliate of the Volunteers of America parent organization. PACE is a Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly. Requirements

- Unencumbered Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of NC
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Must have a valid driver's license, proof of insurance and have means of transportation.
- Must have medical clearance for communicable diseases and up-to-date immunizations before having direct participant contact.
- A minimum of one year's experience in working with the frail or elderly population required.
- Knowledge of principles, practices standards and techniques of a CNA
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Responsibilities
- providing and assisting participants with activities of daily living
- restorative/supportive care necessary to ensure the physical and health safety of the home environment
- Assists in monitoring and reporting the health status
- providing a safe environment for the PACE participants of Senior Community Care of North Carolina
- works shifts in the SCCNC Day Center and provides care and services to participants and assists with the provision of a safe and effective day program
- Consults each day with the PCS Coordinator (or designee) to be updated on changes in participant status, changes in plan of care, and to confirm scheduled visits.
- Personal hygiene such as skin, mouth, hair care and bathing.
- Assists participants in and out of bed assisting with ambulation.
- Assisting with prescribed exercise which participants and aide have been taught by appropriate personnel.
- Prepares meals, including therapeutic diets, assists participants with meals.
- Assist participants to the bathroom or in using commodes, bedpans, or urinals.
