About The Position

The Home Care Aide is a paraprofessional member of the health care team who works under the supervision of a licensed nurse to perform basic nursing tasks as assigned. DIMENSIONS: Assigned to cases by Scheduling or Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Must have completed the ninth grade and be able to read, write and follow written instructions and document care given.
  • Passport personal staff must have obtained a high school diploma or completed GED equivalent
  • ESP or Elderly Services Program staff must have obtained a high school diploma or completed GED equivalent.
  • CNA or STNA
  • CPR Certification
  • Must have completed a basic aide training program and possess a Certificate of Course Completion or have one year hospital or skilled nursing home experience. The basic aide training program must meet OBRA 87 requirements. Medicare, Medicaid, and Waiver aides must complete a two part competency evaluation. (Part 1 written, Part 2 demonstration of skills.) The score on the written portion must be at least 70%25 or greater. Private pay and Passport aides
  • Must also complete the written portion of the competency evaluation with a score of 70%25 or greater.
  • Agency must complete competencies.
  • Must display good physical and emotional health and be capable of stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 lbs. Should demonstrate good personal hygiene.
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work with little direct supervision and have the maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the patient, the patient's family and all other office personnel.
  • Must have a sincere interest in and sympathetic attitude toward caring for the sick and disabled at home.
  • Must meet all agency personnel policies and have reliable transportation.
