About The Position

The Home-Based Supervisor of the Specialized Services for Youth department assumes responsibilities common to all supervisory positions as described in the Agency Manual; provides management and performs specific requirements of programs under departmental jurisdiction and assures orderly procedures for translating the Agency goals and values into practice.  The Supervisor participates in development and monitoring of the program budget, accounts for and enhances quality services to individuals, and develops context for the enrichment and growth of staff assigned to all programs within that department. The Home-Based Supervisor of the Specialized Services for Youth department provides clinical and administrative supervision to all home-based clinicians in the department. The Home-Based Supervisor of the Specialized Services for Youth department reports to the Director of Treatment Services.

Requirements

  • Successful completion of the requirements of a master’s degree from an accredited school of social work or equivalent in related field such as psychology or guidance and counseling as appropriate to the needs of the particular position.
  • State certification or licensure to the maximum level possible, commensurate with accrued experience and degree obtained (LMSW, LPC, LLP, LMFT).
  • Demonstrated leadership, management and supervisory skills.
  • Two years of previous supervisory experience related to the assigned responsibilities required.
  • A minimum of five years of post-masters experience in the examination, evaluation, and treatment of minors and their families, with experience providing home-based services preferred.

  • Special abilities and skills necessary to perform the required tasks and that best meet the needs of the agency also will be considered.   There may be some standards above that may be waived when compensating specifications or circumstances exist.

  • Other special abilities, skills and credentials such as experience working in the Community Mental Health System, substance use qualifications, experience with youth eligible for services through the community mental health system, family systems work and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Director to provide program direction to assure that licensing requirements, requirements of the Michigan Mental Health Code and Medicaid Provider Manual and standards for accreditation by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children (COA) are met.
  • Provide oversight and leadership to ensure that contractual obligations are fulfilled.
  • Assist in modification of existing programs when indicated to meet individual, community and funder needs.
  • Share in maintaining acceptable standards for quality of service provision within the limits of sound professional practice.
  • Ensure all home-based staff complete required trainings and obtain approval through the Michigan Department of Community Health as a Home-Based Service Provider.
  • Provide direct clinical services as deemed appropriate based upon referrals and caseload demands.
  • Share in assurance that orderly systems are in place to respond to requests for prompt service delivery.
  • Assist the Director in the development of program budgets and ensure that the program stays within budget parameters.
  • Provide clinical supervision and oversight to home-based clinicians within the Treatment Services department, including individual and group supervision.
  • Monitor scheduling, productivity and activities of all staff assigned within the department, including OCHN dashboards.
  • Provide leadership to all home-based program staff through supervisions, staff development, case consultation and department/unit meetings.
  • Participate in leadership meetings with Director, Assistant Director, Treatment Services Supervisors and Next Level Leadership staff.
  • Facilitate staff meetings to communicate administrative information, policies, procedures and concerns to staff and hear their concerns and needs and communicate discussion outcomes to department Director as appropriate.
  • Participate in meetings with program subcontractors, community groups and other partners as appropriate.
  • Provide after hours on-call support to on-call therapist, rotating weeks with the other SSY supervisors.
  • Actively participate in promotion of the integration of services across the Agency.
  • Interview, hire and on-board new staff.
  • In conjunction with Human Resources and the Director, participates in and supports staff development and training activities.
  • Monitor staff compliance with personnel policy manual and Agency Policies.
  • Develops a team to achieve effectiveness and to resolve problems which may include, but are not limited to the following issues:   crisis calls, emergency situations, and individual complaints or grievances.
  • Promote and maintain superior performance of team members through participation in the evaluation process.
  • Support and ensure compliance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate service and service delivery methods.
  • Responsible for incorporating principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in work processes and in job functions. Responsible for promoting a feeling of welcoming, belonging, and acceptance to all clients and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Represent the agency in the community by participation in seminars, workshops, committees, and other arenas relevant to the agency.
  • Promote the agency position and programs to various related interest groups in the community.
  • Participate in meetings with the Oakland Community Health Network, other Core Provider Agencies, and other community partners as appropriate.
