About The Position
The Physician Assistant (PA) practices in Geriatrics and Extended Care Service to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The PA provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management. The PA practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position. The PA is a licensed independent provider with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence-based care for a population of patients. Major duties and responsibilities of the position include independently managing a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions, developing and implementing individualized plans for optimal population health, demonstrating leadership, ordering and interpreting labs and tests, prescribing interventions, providing education to patients and families, and delivering competent care in the home of Veterans with complex needs.
