About The Position

This role is responsible for executing planned and unplanned maintenance activities within the hoisting, shafts, and underground mining environment. Your work will contribute to optimal production, equipment performance and availability, as well as improving reliability and ensuring that we are well placed for future growth within the mine. In this role you will: Communicate effectively as required within the Shaft team and other site personnel, through designated devices and using Shaft signals. Operate Conveyances by Manual Signalling or Automatic Operation. Interpret rigging drawings and perform Shaft rigging. Perform materials and equipment loading and unloading using the Cage Conveyance. Perform routine work detail in the Shaft and Hoist area such as Shaft scaling, Shaft Inspections, Rope inspections, Spot checks and Housekeeping duties. Operate mobile equipment such as a Telehandler, Skid steer and Aerial Work platforms. Perform maintenance work on Hoisting assets, conveyances and Shaft ropes. Be able to work Underground. Perform daily Field Level Risk Assessments and participate in site based safety programs, toolbox/monthly safety meetings. Understand and follow site policies, procedures, standards and perform lockouts. Participate/understand classroom and in-field training on tasks applicable to the job role.

Requirements

  • Have valid experience/ training in rigging, fall protection and working from heights.
  • Proven commitment to look after your own wellbeing and the confidence to speak up when others put themselves in harm’s way.
  • Ability to work autonomously, or as part of a team.
  • Ability to confidently make decisions relating to your work, or escalate if needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Relevant prior Underground or Shaft experience an asset but not necessary.
  • A mechanical trade certification would be an asset.
