The Hoist Operator/Forklift Driver is responsible for operating various types of forklifts and hoisting equipment to move raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods within a warehouse or manufacturing environment. This role involves maintaining inventory accuracy, performing safety checks, and ensuring compliance with safety policies. The position requires skilled operation of equipment in a climate-controlled environment, contributing to the efficient flow of materials and products.

  • Drive forklift truck equipped with lifting devices to move raw paper materials and finished products.
  • Load and unload semi-trailer trucks and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Perform safety checks on lifts and lubricate trucks as needed.
  • Organize and assign storage space in the warehouse and track inventory using a materials management system.
  • Transport and process manufacturing paper by-products and perform housekeeping duties as required.
  • Conduct routine daily inspections on hoists and report maintenance needs.
  • Knowledge of forklift operation, including load capacity and dimensions.
  • Ability to navigate storage areas and place items without detailed instructions.
  • Skilled in operating forklifts in tight spaces and handling controls for various maneuvers.
  • Recognize load balance and forklift capabilities.
  • Experience with overhead rail cranes or rail car movers.
  • Familiarity with hazardous waste handling and safety protocols.
