The mission of the Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center is to study the roles of foods, food factors, agriculture practices and physical activity on human health, obesity prevention, and maintenance of healthy body weight. The Center is one of six Human Nutrition Research Centers operated by the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). As a group, they form the USDA-Agriculture Research Service National Program in Human Nutrition. The Phlebotomist/Clinical Laboratory Technician provides support services for human studies conducted by the Human Nutrition Research Center in Grand Forks, ND; responsible for performing phlebotomy procedures; will be trained on a wide range of clinical laboratory procedures including clinical chemistry, hematology, and urinalysis. With a reasonable amount of training and experience, the Phlebotomist/Clinical Laboratory Technician will work independently to complete all types of human biological fluid sample processing. This position reports to the Human Nutrition Research Center Operations Manager and is provided with work direction by the GFHNRC Human Studies Director. The hours for this position can vary between 6:00 am and 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and occasional weekend and evening hours; local travel per human study needs. This is a part time position with hours that range from 0-20 hours per week based upon the needs of the Center. This position is contract funded; continuation is contingent on the ongoing availability of external funding.
