About The Position

This role, a temporary position at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, focuses on monitoring youth programs to ensure safety and compliance with Youth Protection expectations. The monitor will visit various youth programs and camps, observe activities, identify safety concerns, and support camp staff. Requirements

  • Experience working with youth, camps, education, recreation, or compliance
  • Strong observation and communication skills
  • Ability to remain calm, professional, and objective
  • Comfortable walking across campus and entering a variety of settings

Responsibilities

  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled visits to youth programs and camps
  • Observe participant supervision, staff interactions, and compliance with Youth Protection expectations
  • Monitor for concerns such as: One-on-one interactions between adults and minors, Poor supervision ratios, Inadequate check-in or check-out processes, Missing signage or emergency procedures, Unsecured spaces or restricted access areas, Staff without badges, name tags, or visible identification
  • Complete daily observation reports after each site visit
  • Support program directors with immediate coaching and reminders regarding compliance expectations
  • Identify trends, recurring issues, and areas of concern
  • Report any serious concerns immediately
  • Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty
  • Ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others
