About The Position
The Hopkins Memorial Forest (HMF) Groundskeeper will be an integral part of a small team dedicated to preserving the ecological and recreational value of the 2,600-acre Hopkins Memorial Forest. This role reports to the HMF Manager and requires a mix of gardening, landscaping, and trail work. This is a temporary, part-time (~20hr/week) position from mid-May through early September. Requirements
- Ability to perform physical labor
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Work outdoors in varied weather conditions (e.g., heat, rain, or buggy conditions)
- Prior experience with power equipment (e.g., mowers, trimmers, etc.)
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Strong "safety-first" mindset
Nice To Haves
- Chainsaw experience
Responsibilities
- Upkeep of Buxton Garden (e.g., pruning, weeding, mulching, updating signs, etc.)
- Upkeep of the Rosenburg Center grounds (e.g., mowing, trimming shrubs, etc.)
- Clear fallen trees, branches, and overgrowth from trails
- Maintain drainage features (water bars) to prevent trail erosion
- Minor repairs to bridges, fences, flower beds, and benches
