We offer luxurious independent living, combined with a seamless continuum of care including assisted living, memory support, skilled nursing, and rehabilitation all on a single campus. We are seeking a candidate with a strong positive attitude toward customer service to act as an Activities Assistant. This person will have a genuine interest in working with older adults and be able to engage, motivate, and support both residents and fellow team members. Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and follow written and verbal directions.
  • Must have high school diploma, prefer a bachelor’s degree.
  • Possesses ability to lead and perform tasks individually. Must be capable of functioning independently, have flexibility, personal integrity, and the ability to work effectively.
  • Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, along with general computer proficiency.
  • Have physical stamina, mental abilities, and emotional stability to handle high job stress.
  • Possesses good verbal and written communication skills, with functional literacy in English necessary.
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills, including group dynamics and teamwork.
  • Demonstrates genuine liking and respect of elderly.
  • Conveys cheerfulness, positive attitude, patience and ability to motivate people.
  • Possesses current driver license and good driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the Activity Coordinator role, including implementation of events and activities: current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits, as indicated.
  • Assures resident activities are completed as scheduled.
  • Maintains effective communications and working relations with all staff/departments, residents, families, and the public.
  • Assists with preparation and maintaining of all necessary records, including: A. Resident attendance B. Monthly calendars (prepared in advance) based on resident input, assessments and interests C. Inventory records D. Resident Council minutes and response forms E. Volunteer Records F. Other records deemed necessary
  • Maintains compliance with community policies and procedures concerning the Activities program.
  • Assists with coordination of the Activity program with all other departments in the community.
  • Assists with securing materials and equipment (as necessary) well in advance of scheduled dates.
  • Provides feedback to Activities Coordinator regarding resident attendance and participation, along with effectiveness of activity programs.
  • Demonstrates emotional maturity (interpersonal relations with staff, residents, families, volunteers, safety and emergency decisions, etc.).
  • Maintains a safe activity environment through procurement, preventive maintenance, cleaning, storage of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in coordination of community sponsored travel/trips/outings.
  • Attends facility meetings and in-service training sessions as required.
  • Create and maintain an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, and positive emphasis as well as a calm environment throughout the department and community.
  • Maintain work area and keep the department in compliance with OSHA safety standards.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrates the community hospitality promises towards residents, families, associates and vendors.
