Job Summary Under the direction of the Department Manager, leads and directs the Forming (Bulkan, Convocan, Slitter), Plates or Warehouse team in a manner which meets or exceeds safety standards and production. Essential Functions Work safely always following Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO), safe work practice policies and procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Conduct monthly safety meetings, weekly tailgate meetings and daily safety discussions. Correct any unsafe issue or concern on the spot or create and track a Safety work order. Review and correct Monthly department STOP audit discrepancies. Participate in goal setting and problem-solving activities for the department. Order and maintain department supplies. Continuous review and update of department procedures as needed. Participate and drives CI projects. Make scheduling and manning adjustments to provide coverage for vacation, daily work volume and call outs using OT labor distribution report. Verify production orders following mix copy procedures. End of shift reports – run OEE report, verify against Pi, fill out daily production reports, close out finished orders and then run back flush reports. Verify order completion and report shortages. Monitor the daily activities of the department/ area team. Prioritize the customer order filling and loading of outbound trucks (WH). Communicate with other department’s team leads, planning, warehouse, maintenance, supervisors, and managers with daily activities of the department. Oversees new employee’s training and conducts regular syllabus reviews to ensure employees are working towards increased qualifications. Investigate and fill out all forms relating to an incident, quality, mix and customer action requirement (CAR). Must be able to understand, review, create and revise the ETQ documents. Provide input to the department manager for performance appraisals. Troubleshoot all department machinery and makes minor adjustments/repairs. Create work orders in Mainsaver and follow up on their completion. Understand, review, create and revise EtQ documents. Required to fully understand and enforce all company policies such as safety, quality, production, attendance, and work rules. Coordinates with outside vendors for supplies, parts, and repairs. Coordinates PM efforts and maintenance of all the equipment in the department with Maintenance and Engineering. (Non WH Leads). Ensures that job safety analyses (JSA) are followed, updated, and maintained. Continuously monitor and improve product quality. Implement waste reduction strategy; participate in goal setting and problem-solving activities for the department and assist operators in executing set plan. Records and communicate all information pertaining to safety, quality, maintenance, or other issues to the press crew and to next shifts. Maintain accurate log entries. Conduct daily safety checks in working area. Other duties as directed by manager.

Requirements

  • Should have a minimum of 1year of experience in a leadership role where they were overseeing a group of employees or at least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting (experience in a Printing, Forming and Warehousing environment preferred).
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, including the ability to receive and act on written and oral instructions, write brief reports, discuss mechanical situations and applications, and provide direction to others.
  • Must possess basic computer skills to use with company software: including BPCS, HDCS, Lotus Notes, Mainsaver, TWS and Pi. Intermediate knowledge of internet explorer. Microsoft Office is required.
  • Must have good interpersonal and leadership skills, including coaching and counseling employees.
  • Must have basic math skills to compute material usage, waste, and finished goods.
  • Must be able to interpret data for production and quality requirements, including specification issues, degree of quality issue, and color variation.
  • Must have good troubleshooting skills and mechanical aptitude (be familiar with machine terminology).
  • Must be able to read and use measuring instruments accurately.
  • Must be able to delegate work assignments and can run multiple crews simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work with minimal or no supervision.
  • Should have experience in cross training programs.
  • Must be able to read and translate graphs.
  • Must have knowledge of the PM programs.
  • Must have knowledge of warehouse operations including loading trucks, order filling and receiving (WH).
  • Must be proficient in the use of RF Scanners (Warehouse Leads).
  • Must be able to safely operate a forklift, clamp truck and Raymond lift (Warehouse Leads).
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required by production/ warehouse demands.
  • Must be able to identify color variations.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 35lbs to shoulder height.
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently or as needed.
  • Ability to climb onto and off powered equipment (forklift).
  • Must be able to bend, turn and stoop frequently.
  • Must be able to stand/ walk constantly.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Current forklift operator’s license (WH).
