HLD Technician Asst
About The Position
Under the supervision of a manager or supervisor, the High Level Disinfection Technician Assistant assists with a variety of indirect patient care activities. This job assists High Level Disinfection Technicians with decontamination and high level disinfection (HLD) of instruments and equipment. This job ensures all necessary instruments and supplies are prepared and ready for assembly on case carts. This job observes strict patient confidentiality following all HIPAA rules and regulations. This job also maintains a clean and safe environment.
Requirements
- Current GI/Endoscope certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or must be achieved within 24 months of hire.
- Maintaining CBSPD
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Previous work experience as a High Level Disinfection, Sterile Processing Technician or healthcare related position.
- Completion with a passing grade of the VCUHS on-line course for reprocessing of flexible endoscopes.
- Completion of International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) certification preparation course.
Responsibilities
- Assists with decontamination and sterilization of all instruments and equipment according to procedures.
- Maintains inventory and par levels of all instruments and supplies.
- Follows OSHA and TJC guidelines.
