Overview Perform technical duties involving processing tissue for diagnosis by a pathologist. Performance of these duties involves the use of various instruments and immunohistochemical procedures, as well as immunefluorescence techniques. Assists in quality control procedures. Maintains and troubleshoots instruments. May also gross biopsy samples. Provide excellent customer service. Qualifications Required Education:High School Diploma or GEDPreferred Education:Bachelor's Degree in Science related field.Necessary Skills:1. Knowledge of principles, methods, materials and techniques of histopathology.2. Identify tissue structures, cell components and their staining and labeling characteristics.3. Ability to perform assigned tasks according to prescribed procedures and to recognize and correct abnormal results that might affect the outcome of the diagnosis. Ability to recognize malfunctioning equipment and assist in making repairs. Ability to prioritize tasks and organize work flow.4. Requires good decision making skills. 5. Must be detail oriented. 6. Must be able to handle stressful situations in a professional manner. 7. Ability to professionally and courteously interact with internal and external customers.Required Licensure/Certifications:Florida Histotechnologist License.Preferred Licensure/Certifications:National Certification.Required Experience:1-2 years. One (1) year specialized training in a NAACLS approved Histology program -OR-One (1) year working as a histotechnican/histotechnologist in a hospital laboratory.Preferred Experience:Two (2) years experience in Histology.
