About The Position

Platinum Dermatology Partners is seeking an experienced PRN Histotechnologist in our Pathology Lab in North Dallas. Position purpose The Histotechnologist’s main responsibility is to perform all functions in the histology lab to include embedding, microtomy, staining, and filing.

Requirements

  • Education: HT(ASCP) or eligible required. A bachelor of science degree is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in histology required. Histology experience specifically related to dermatology is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in histology
  • CLIA and CAP eligible to perform Gross Dissection strongly preferred
  • Knowledge and experience using Microtome, Embedding Center, Tissue Processor, and H/E Stainer, is required.
  • Dragon dictation program proficiency preferred.
  • Must be reliable
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow instructions/procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and co-workers.
  • Ability to perform work activities in a team environment with open communication.

  • Ability to function in a fast-paced environment while under substantial time pressures and still maintain quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Support the diagnostic evaluation of tissue by histological procedures.
  • Perform histological duties within the guidelines established by histology laboratory
  • Perform a variety of specialized histopathological procedures, including but not limited to:
  • Embedding
  • Microtomy
  • Routine Staining
  • Special Staining
  • File slides, block and paperwork in alpha-numeric order
  • Equipment quality control
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
