Open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, the laboratories perform more than 19 million tests a year. In addition to IU Health, laboratory testing services are provided to hospitals and physicians across the country. SHIFT: Full-Time, Evenings HOURS: 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, Monday through Friday The Histotechnologist at the LAB produces high quality microscopic slides of tissues received while maintaining patient confidentiality. Also performs all necessary duties and procedures required for the processing of specimens for diagnostic and research purposes. Identifies tissue structure and cell components for use in the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of a disease. Performs complex immunohistochemistry procedures to aid in diagnosis.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Histology is preferred.
  • Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) through ASCP is required. Additional experience/education will be considered in lieu of certification.
  • Required skills include but are not limited to; Embedding, Cutting, routine H&E staining, Special stains.
  • Requires proficiency at computer entry/retrieval of lab results.
  • Requires ability to utilize and perform routine maintenance on specialized equipment in performing tests.
  • Requires ability to troubleshoot equipment.
  • Requires ability to prepare reagents.
