About The Position

BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Histotechnician II (HTL) at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) - Surgical Pathology Dept. This position is eligible for a $10,000 Automatic Sign On Bonus! The role involves working evening shifts, either 4 or 5 days a week, with 10-hour shifts from 1pm to 11:30pm or 8-hour shifts from 1pm to 9:30pm. Currently, there is no routine weekend work, and major holidays are off. The position requires skills in embedding, microtomy, immunohistochemistry (IHC), special stains, and recuts. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience and hold an HT(ASCP) certification. The role is part of a highly skilled, compassionate, supportive, and caring team, with opportunities for growth and cross-training.

Requirements

• HTL- ASCP or equivalent Certification
• High School Diploma or GED
• 1 year of experience in histotechnology

Nice To Haves

• Embedding, microtomy, and IHC experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Understand test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas.
• Perform tasks including microtomy, embedding, staining, and reagent preparation.
• Document quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoot malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.
• Perform special stains and immunohistochemistry (manual or automated) after reagent preparation.
• Utilize critical thinking skills to perform tasks and responsibilities effectively.
• Complete tissue gross examination as needed.
