Requirements

• Histotechnician - Diploma/Certificate Histology Technician or Associates Degree in Histology.
• Completion of a clinical practicum in an Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
• Histotechnologist - Bachelor's degree.
• Registry eligible and/or have obtained their HT/HTL certification are considered to have met the education requirement.
• Graduate of a NAACLS accredited program preferred.
• Computer skills.
• Highly organized, efficient, detail oriented and capable of multi-tasking.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good manual dexterity.
• Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and written.
• Problem solving skills.

Nice To Haves

• Graduates of the Mayo School of Health Sciences Histology Technician Program will receive preference.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tissues for microscopic diagnosis by a Pathologist utilizing a variety of manual, semi-automated and automated technologies.
• Maintain the integrity of tissue through the pre-analytic to post-analytic phase in the Anatomic Pathology laboratory.
• Produce slides of good to superior quality and work closely with the Pathologist to provide slides in an efficient and timely manner.
