About The Position

Under general supervision, the Histotechnologist is responsible for: Preparing microscopic slides for diagnostic purposes. Performing diagnostic tests. Maintaining laboratory equipment and records. Providing instruction and being a resource to others. Possessing a working knowledge and theory of histologic techniques Immunohistochemistry and Special Stain techniques and histology automation Possessing excellent knowledge of the AP LIS system. The lab offers cross training opportunities and the opportunity to be part of cross-function process improvement teams. In Fiscal Year 2023, the lab performed 8.5 million tests (including Chemistry, Cytology, Flow Cytometry, Hematology, Coagulation, Histology, Microbiology, Point of Care Testing, Transfusion Services and Urinalysis), 122,751 Anatomical Pathology tests, and 404,139 combined inpatient & outpatient phlebotomy draws. The department consists of over 200 medical laboratory professionals. Requirements

  • 2 year/Associate Degree - OR - combination of relevant education & experience may be considered in lieu of Associate Degree
  • Experience Cutting, Grossing, and Embedding Required
  • Non-traditional routes to established skill level may be accepted after a review of education and experience.
  • ASCP-HT (must be obtained within one year of hire)
  • Excellent Communications Skills
  • Excellent Interpersonal Skills
