About The Position

Castle Biosciences Inc. is growing, and we are looking to hire Histotechnologists/Histotechnicians working from our laboratory in Pittsburgh, PA, with a start date on or before March 15, 2026 Why Castle Biosciences? A typical day for a Histologist involves performing core histology functions, including embedding, cutting, and routine H&E staining. You'll primarily work with gastrointestinal and dermatological specimens in a specialized reference laboratory while supporting quality control activities, preventive maintenance, SOP reviews, and tissue microarray (TMA) cutting. This role spends the majority of time managing daily workflows, cutting specimens, and staining slides to ensure accurate, high-quality processing.

Requirements

  • Histotechnician: AA degree and/or Histotechnician (AA) in a scientific discipline or equivalent
  • Histotechnologist: B.S. in a scientific discipline or equivalent with at least >1 year of experience, preferred in a clinical, research, and/or development environment. Consideration will be given to those with research and/or exposure in a developmental environment.
  • The Histologists in the clinical laboratory are placed on a track towards obtaining American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnician(HT)/Histotechnologist(HTL) board certification, if not already credentialed upon hire, and are expected to obtain such certification within 2 years of employment.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent thought.
  • Clinical Histology Lab methodologies, general regulatory requirements, and laboratory techniques.
  • Laboratory QA requirements, knowledge of computers, spreadsheets, and databases.
