About The Position

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking an experienced Histotechnologist with strong grossing expertise to join a high-volume reference laboratory in San Diego, CA. This position plays a critical role in specimen processing, ensuring accurate and timely tissue grossing in compliance with CLIA, CAP, and laboratory quality standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable during overnight operations, and thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. Shift: Monday- Friday 11p-7:30a

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year of histology grossing experience required.
Working knowledge of laboratory safety, specimen handling, and grossing techniques.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently on 3rd shift.

Nice To Haves

ASCP Histology certification (HT or HTL) or other relevant histology credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical specimens according to established laboratory protocols.
Accurately describe, measure, and section tissue samples for histologic processing.
Maintain specimen integrity and ensure proper labeling, documentation, and workflow tracking.
Adhere to CLIA, CAP, and institutional safety and quality standards.
Collaborate closely with pathologists, histotechnologists, and laboratory staff to ensure efficient turnaround times.
Participate in equipment maintenance, quality control procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide support and mentorship to junior staff as needed during overnight operations.
