About The Position

The individual will contribute to the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients by accurately processing surgical pathology specimens. Responsibilities may include cryotomy and frozen section staining; high complexity testing such as gross examination/tissue processing of surgical biopsies; equipment maintenance and record retention; training staff; knowledge of pathology Laboratory Information System and other duties as assigned. The position may involve travel between the Scottsdale and Phoenix campuses. The individual must demonstrate excellent troubleshooting skills as well as knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span. The ability to assess data reflective of the patient's age-specific needs is also required. Effective communication skills and ability to multitask are essential. May be responsible for handling chemicals and/or reagents including chemical hazardous waste materials. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited college/university in histology, biology or having emphasized anatomical, biological, and chemical sciences and minimum of 1 year histology experience; or Associate of Science degree from an accredited college/university in histology, biology or having emphasized anatomical, biological, and chemical science and a minimum of 3 years histology experience; or meet CLIA-88 regulations (42CFR493.1487 through 1491) for high complexity testing and a minimum of 5 years histology experience.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated good judgment when dealing with a variety of procedural and technical issues.
  • Requires (PLEASE ATTACH) CV/Resume UNOFFICAL, OR OFFICAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPTS and for foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • International transcript: MUST have a DETAILED equivalency evaluation MUST show US equivalent degree Evaluation MUST be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. Nice To Haves

  • Three years immunohistochemical staining experience within the last 10 years strongly preferred.
