NOW HIRING!! The Histotech (unregistered) prepares tissue specimens for microscopic examination and diagnostic interpretation by the dermatopathologist. The associate in this position must determine the appropriate protocols, procedures, and quality control measures to follow, and must consistently adhere to those guidelines. This role is crucial in ensuring that the specimens are processed accurately and efficiently, contributing to the overall diagnostic process in dermatopathology. The Histotech will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and coverslipping of tissue specimens. Additionally, the associate will be tasked with accessioning specimens and performing the cutting of control slides, ensuring that all slides are matched with their respective requisitions while double-checking for accuracy. The position may also involve other duties or special projects as required or assigned by management. All laboratory personnel, including the Histotech, are required to complete 12 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) each calendar year. This includes 1 CEU in Safety, 2 CEUs in Dermpath Specific training, and 9 CEUs in any related laboratory area of interest. This commitment to ongoing education is essential for maintaining the highest standards of practice and compliance with industry regulations. The Histotech must possess a strong knowledge of ADCS policies and procedures, including quality assurance policies and CLIA, OSHA, and other applicable government regulations and standards. The ability to apply this knowledge effectively in the performance of all job duties is critical. Furthermore, the associate must practice confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations regarding patient information, demonstrating professionalism and ethical conduct at all times. The role requires a high level of accuracy in documentation and the performance of all job duties, as well as the ability to manage time efficiently, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changes in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
