About The Position

At Old Tucson Entertainment, the Historic Blacksmith Demonstrator plays a vital dual role, engaging guests through both operational attraction support and immersive historical blacksmithing demonstrations. This role handles typical attraction attendant responsibilities such as ride operation, guest interaction, and safety enforcement, while also showcasing traditional blacksmithing techniques that bring the Old West to life. The ideal candidate would be a performer at heart, a skilled tradesperson by craft, and a customer service representative by nature. Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of hands-on blacksmithing or metalworking experience required.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Tactful, professional, and engaging demeanor.
• Ability to work safely with open flames, hot metal, and blacksmithing tools.
• Knowledge of general safety procedures.
• CPR and emergency response training recommended.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and safety inspections.
• Maintain a clean and safe space in and around assigned areas.
• Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all guests.
• Provide friendly and helpful service to all visitors.
• Address and resolve guest complaints and concerns promptly.
• May need to dress in costume or perform minor entertainment as part of themed experience.
• Monitor and report unsafe conditions; respond to emergencies per company procedures.
• Demonstrate basic blacksmith techniques such as heating, forging, bending, and shaping metal.
• Operate forge and anvil safely and in line with all fire safety protocols.
• Produce small, simple items (e.g., hooks, nails, small tools) during demonstrations.
• Maintain cleanliness and safety of the forge area and equipment.
• Monitor inventory and condition of blacksmith tools and supplies.
• Engage with guests respectfully while balancing safety and demonstration duties.
