About The Position

HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital is seeking a Histology Technician/Histology Technologist to play a critical role on the laboratory team. By assisting the pathologist in preparation of frozen section slides fine needle aspirations needle biopsies and the examination of tissue specimens the Histology Technician supports the delivery of high-quality patient care in identifying illnesses diseases and other conditions. Position Specifics: • Department: Lab • Core Function: Laboratory • Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours per week, Day shift • Facility: St. Mary's Hospital • Location: Green Bay, WI

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with 30 hours biology and chemistry and completion of NAACLS accredited histology technician program OR bachelor's degree with 30 hours biology and chemistry and 1 year full time experience in histopathology
  • American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histology certificate or equivalent from a recognized accrediting agency

Responsibilities

  • assisting the pathologist in preparation of frozen section slides
  • assisting the pathologist in preparation of fine needle aspirations
  • assisting the pathologist in preparation of needle biopsies
  • examination of tissue specimens
  • supports the delivery of high-quality patient care in identifying illnesses diseases and other conditions
