Highlights: Summary: The Histology Technician shall provide timely and courteous service to patients, physicians, and hospital staff by performing Histology procedures accurately and efficiently. This individual shall detect and report unusual conditions to supervisor. The Technician shall demonstrate knowledge of histologic techniques, principles, instruments, and their relationship. This position may have additional duties assigned that are within scope of the role.

Requirements

Associate's degree in Applied Science Histotechnician or Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and/or Biology.
In lieu of degree, will consider those who were performing high complexity testing on or before April 1995.
Based on degree or experience, ASCP Histotechnician (HT) certification may be required.
Ability to work from broad directions and be self motivated.

Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guest, visitors, and patients.
Knowledge of HIPAA standards and regulations.

The ability to maintain confidentiality
Position requires sitting for 80% of the workday and mobility 20% of the workday.
There is occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
There is frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action.
Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 15 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
There is a continuous need for speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity in conversation either by phone or in person.
Continuous visual acuity at close and distant range.
Inside protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Minimal noise levels.
Much exposure to computer work.
Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock.
Some exposure to infectious disease while performing job-related tasks.
Some exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Occasional exposure to radiation.
