Requirements

• Minimum Experience: 2 years as a Histology Technician
• National Certification: ASCP – HT (required)
• BLS: Not required
• Pending State License: Accepted
• Core Histology Skills
• Tissue processing
• Strong embedding and microtomy skills in a high-paced lab environment
• Embedding & Microtomy Experience (Required)
• Automated and manual microtomes
• Cutting tissue sections using microtome and cryostat
• Cutting paraffin blocks
• Embedding GI specimens
• Embedding large specimens
• Embedding molds
• Embedding small and large specimens
• Skin embedding techniques
• Histology cassette preparation
• Microtomy of fatty tissue
• Microtomy of hard tissue
• Paraffin wax sectioning
• Precision microtomy
• Staining Experience (Required)
• Hematoxylin and Eosin (H&E) staining
• Slide preparation for staining
• Systems Experience
• EPIC / Excellian experience required
