Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Histotechnician (Non-Certified) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Histotechnician (HT/ASCP) - preferred.

Responsibilities

  • preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures
  • must be versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples
  • the performance of routine and special staining procedures
  • knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties
  • use and maintenance of histology equipment
  • maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department
  • other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director
