About The Position
Histology Technician I - One (1) On-Call Varied Shift Position Overview: The Histology Technician I is responsible for ensuring all specimens/tissues that come into the gross room are processed for workup in the pathology department. This may include but it not limited to logging, preparing frozen samples and staining tissue samples. Tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic or autopsy cases are sorted, logged and prioritized according to the standards required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Nice To Haves
- Associates Degree or higher in a science field
- Six (6) months of clinical experience in a pathology/laboratory department
Responsibilities
- Ensuring all specimens/tissues that come into the gross room are processed for workup in the pathology department.
- Logging specimens/tissues.
- Preparing frozen samples.
- Staining tissue samples.
- Sorting tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic or autopsy cases.
- Logging tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic or autopsy cases.
- Prioritizing tissue specimens received from surgical, diagnostic or autopsy cases according to the standards required.
