About The Position

  • Associate's Transcript showing 12 semester (18 quarter hours) of chemistry and biology (must include credit hours in both) or
  • Some College Transcript showing 60 semester (90 quarter hours) of academic credit from an accredited college or university
  • Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 1-1/2 Yrs

Nice To Haves

  • 1-3 years full time experience in a histopathology (clinical, veterinary, industry or research) laboratory from an accredited laboratory within the last five years

Responsibilities

  • Performs MOHS histology techniques including, but not limited to: tissue freezing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, and labeling.
  • Confirms specimen orientation to make MOHS map and divides and color-codes specimens.
  • Responsible for assuring the technical aspects of the Histology/MOHS/Clinical Laboratory section of the clinic. Performs gross examination of tissue specimens. Performs miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: slide filing, accessioning specimens into computer system, preparing reagents or solutions, and laboratory equipment maintenance. Performs special histology and/or cytology specimen processing procedures including Immuno-histo chemical staining and other special stains.
  • Directs quality assurance, CLIA, and safety compliance and continuous quality improvement projects and maintains current laboratory procedural and equipment protocol. Participation in Laboratory Management and CLIA related meetings.
  • Coordinates and communicates with Dermatopathologists, Dermatologists, and Clinic Managers regarding laboratory issues.
  • Efficiently orders supplies needed for the lab.
