Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) within 1-1/2 Yrs

1-3 years full time experience in a histopathology (clinical, veterinary, industry or research) laboratory from an accredited laboratory within the last five years

Responsibilities

Performs MOHS histology techniques including, but not limited to: tissue freezing, embedding, cutting, staining, cover slipping, and labeling.
Confirms specimen orientation to make MOHS map and divides and color-codes specimens.
Responsible for assuring the technical aspects of the Histology/MOHS/Clinical Laboratory section of the clinic. Performs gross examination of tissue specimens. Performs miscellaneous tasks including but not limited to: slide filing, accessioning specimens into computer system, preparing reagents or solutions, and laboratory equipment maintenance. Performs special histology and/or cytology specimen processing procedures including Immuno-histo chemical staining and other special stains.
Directs quality assurance, CLIA, and safety compliance and continuous quality improvement projects and maintains current laboratory procedural and equipment protocol. Participation in Laboratory Management and CLIA related meetings.
Coordinates and communicates with Dermatopathologists, Dermatologists, and Clinic Managers regarding laboratory issues.
Efficiently orders supplies needed for the lab.
